LIA internship with White Arkitekter
It's been a long summer (ahh the luxury of being a student) but I now have time to reflect on my internship at White Arkitekter, and to thank those who made it such a great experience for me.
I spent 10 weeks at their award winning, sustainable and innovative Uppsala office, Magasin X, with Jörgen Pell as my mentor. I knew Jörgen from before and was aware that he was a building engineer but I had no idea of the scope of things he actually undertakes and how passionate about his job he is 🤩.
I have come away this experience as a much wiser and knowledgeable student. Thank you Jörgen, Anders Tväråna and the rest of the studio at White (and thank you for my book).
Some things I got involved in included some Revit projektering/design, a bit of visualisation & illustration, site visits, working with Enscape...
Having the ability to visualise was of course useful and appreciated.
I got to learn of and was impressed with their efforts in creating sustainable architecture🌱
What I have now learnt about BIM is that it is not just about how much information you load into your model... it's also about presenting the necessary information to the right parties.
I now also realise what I need to focus on in my final year and to give myself a break 😏 I had high expectations of myself but 10 years+ experience in the industry as a visualiser doesn't make me an instant byggnadsingenjör!
So thank you White Arkitekter. I really hope that the combination of engineering and visualisation will be an attractive factor for employers when it comes to recruitment. Please let me know your thoughts through the usual channels...
